Gerritsen Family Christmas Party '08

Last Saturday we had the Gerritsen Family Christmas party! It was alot of fun! There was fun games for the kids, and each got there own mini Christmas tree to decorate. Brooklyn had fun chasing all her other cousins around the room, and Addison just slept the night away. The kids exchanged gifts and Brooklyn got a new kitchen cooking set, and Addison got a cute shirt and pants.

For me, and I am sure others....the fav was Rock Band. What a fun game!!! I hope Santa brings me that.....wink wink! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving with Andy's family at his Aunt Mary's house. Friday we had the Evans family dinner. We had a fun couple of days, and glad we could spend it with family! AND...it was Bill's birthday on Thanksgiving! Happy Birthday to you, Bill! :)

Tractor tippin'

Since I am catching up on posts.....this is from a few weeks ago too. We live by the canal, as most know, and they were doing maintenance work. This little baby decided to slip off into the ditch~!

Yea! I was freaking out. How would they get it out? Is it going to hit my house? The rock wall...AHHH! I had many things going through my head that morning. Brooklyn probably thought I was nuts running around the house. They brought in another to try to pull it out. That was making it worse! The more they were trying to pull it out, the more the back was running into the fence.
Needless to say, they got it out, and fixed the fence very quickly! Just made for a very interesting morning! :)

Fun with the nephews & nieces

We had the chance to watch my sister's boys and Andy's sisters kids on the same night. We thought it would be fun to make cookies so they could frost them. Savannah ended up falling asleep (not feeling well) so I didn't get pictures of her. They had a good time frosting....well for the time that they did. Me and Lo ended up frosting the rest! But it was fun! Then a week later Lo and I made another batch of cookies since they were soooo yummy, so here are some pictures of both of those days!

Disney on Ice!

We took Brooklyn to Disney on Ice last weekend. It was so much fun! We drove downtown and parked under the Church Office Building. We rode the "Train" to the Energy Solutions Arena. Brooklyn had fun on the train. It was so new to her, she just kept smiling. We got to the arena and she got to pick a toy from Aunt Lo, as princessy as she is, she got a wand. We bought her a crown, and then her and Addison both a Minnie Mouse. She was so excited for it to start, when it finally did she was all smiles. The look on her face was priceless!

What a babe!

Just had to post some pictures of my cute baby girl! Addie is such a sweet little baby! She is 4 months now, and getting bigger everyday! She loves her sister very much, In fact, she cries when Brooklyn leaves her. She loves when Brooklyn sings "Twinkle, Twinkle" to her. Addie has rolled from back to tummy, and actually scooted the other day! Grandma & Grandpa G got her an early Christmas present, a bouncer, and she loves that too. I can't believe she is old enough to be in one now! She goes in for her 4 month appt this Friday, so I will have to give those stats later! I love you Addie! :)

Once upon a time....The End

Brooklyn wanted to read me a story tonight, so I HAD to get the camera. She read the book the way she remembers it! I think she did a great job! My favorites are when she "looks that way, and that way"...and saying The End after the pages. Too cute!

Very important!!

This report was done last night on KSL channel 5 news.
A growing number of Utahns are discovering serious drawbacks to a popular pastime: blogging. But we found some cases that may change the way you blog.
Blogs help families share memories, but they can also make families a target for harassment, even stalking. But there's little law enforcement officers can do. It's simply post at your own peril.
A crazy birthday haircut documented on a family blog. His mom never dreamed their Mohawk memory would end up making him look like a member of the Hitler Youth on someone else's blog.
"We were really upset," blogger Lainie Ottley said. "For me, it's a huge offense."
She not only felt violated, but afraid of the association with neo-Nazis.
"Given the verbiage with the picture, we felt like it had created a pretty dangerous situation," Ottley said.
But when she called police, she learned there's not a thing they can do.
"That's some of the frustration, almost daily, when I take these calls," said Rhett McQuist, with Utah's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force. "Right now, the laws haven't caught up with technology."
For another blogger, who did not want to be identified, the peril came not from pictures, but postings. "We had had no idea who it was," she said.
Degrading comments turned into more than a dozen threats and insults a day posted to her family's blog. "We just felt harassed and started to feel unsafe because of what was written," she said.
She and her husband eventually hired an attorney, filed a lawsuit, subpoenaed Google and were shocked to discover their stalker was a close family member. "It wrecked my trust in people, still does. And it makes you question everything," she said.
Those tough experiences get at the heart of what appeals to most bloggers: posting pictures of your children and making them accessible for family and friends. But how much information is too much?
We surfed blogs and found first and last names, birth dates for an entire, a countdown to the family Disneyland vacation, information on a husband's deployment to Iraq and a slide show of the inside of someone's house.
All this makes it easy, in many cases, for us to go from blogsite to blogger's doorstep in a few computer clicks.
It's just not worth the risk for these bloggers. "If you're going to do it, just know there's no way to keep it completely safe," Ottley said.
Criminal investigators say to Stay Safe, bottom line, don't post pictures of children online. You should also protect your blogsite with a password.
They also say guard information like your address. We saw pictures where the house address was visible.
Finally, adjust settings on your blog that protect your identity and make you unsearchable.

Of course we all want to having pictures of our kids on our blogs....why else do we have them.... :)
but if you do adjust your settings to limit who is able to view your blog, which is what I do, I feel like it is safe enough to have pictures of your children and other family on there. I sure don't want to find them on other's websites!!! :) Also, take off last names.....I think is another huge way to keep your blog safe!
I googled my name, and so far by blog is pretty secure. I think this kind of goes with Facebook too. Keep your settings limited to who can see it. Well there ya go.....my advice for the day! ~

This is Halloween!

What a fun Halloween we had this year. Friday we took the girls to see their great-grand parents to show off their costumes. It is a fun tradtion that all of us do, and the kids all have a great time. The fav this year was the leaves! They had so much fun, and even Grandma G, Jer, and Andy joined in on the fun! Then we raked them all up, and Becky and Kiley took some home! Becky and Kiley also made my girls cute Halloween shirts that they wore when they weren't wearing their costumes! Later that evening we went to our wards "Trunk or Treat". Brooklyn had more fun handing out the candy, than getting the candy. We then came home and spent the evening visiting with Lo and Heidi and had some scrumpcious dinner courtesy of Fazoli's! YUM!

We hope everyone else had a great Halloween! :)

The Monster Bash!!!

We had alot of fun at our Evans Halloween party. We had dinner and then planned a few games for the kids. Everyone brought a little treat for them, so it looks like they don't need to go trick or treating anymore! :) It was fun to see all their costumes, and kudos to princess Snow White for making all the kids so excited! It was a spooky spectacular!

Ride 'em Cowboy!

Brooklyn got a new (as she says) Yeehaw cowboy hat! She runs around the house saying "Ride 'em cowboy". Addison, of course, had to join in on the fun!

Brooklyn is READING!

OK....she does words here and there, but i just thought this was funny!
Brooklyn brought out the Twilight book Aunt Heidi gave her and asked if I wanted to read it with her. Here is our conversation...

Brooklyn- Mom, you want to read Bella and Edward with me?
Tina- Sure, Brooke!
Brooklyn- OK, Once apon a time there was Bella & Edward, The End!!
Tina- (laughing) Great job Brookie! :)
Brooklyn- Let's do it again.
Tina- Ok
Brooklyn- Once apon a time there was Beauty and the Beast, The End!

Isn't she the greatest story teller! :)

Time for books....

This was so cute! Brooklyn and Auntie Lo were reading Addison some of Brooklyn's favorite books. (I love how Brooklyn is constantly rubbing Addie's head, oh and clocks her in the face a few times!)

Princess Brookie strikes a pose!

We were having a picnic outside last week, and Brooklyn was in a picture taking mood! We don't usually get many of those moods, so we went with it!!! She happened to be wearing her pink dress again which made it more fun. She loves to dance and jump around and be silly!!! She sure wore Aunt Heidi out!!! I am sure someday Brooklyn will teach Addison to be just as silly!!!

The State Fair...

We went to the State Fair again this year with my sisters and nephew Parker. Addison slept the whole time, and Brooklyn and Parker liked all the "pee-you" animals and the farm. We of course got all the favorite State Fair snacks, how can you pass those up! Although after we felt kind of BLAH! It was fun though! It's a tradition I will keep up! Especially for the Dippin Dots. .....I sure wish they sold those in the store.....! Anyway, here are some pictures we took. Don't we look fabulous in the pear tree? (well If i peeked my head in a little more you could actually see it's me...)

Addie update!

We took Addison in for her 2 month visit last Friday. She is now 11 pounds 10 ounces. HOLY MOLY! Big girl! Granted Brooklyn was early and a tiny baby, but she weighed that much at 4 months. That would be funny if Addison eventually caught up with Brooklyn. Well we finally have been able to get more of her smiling! What a cutie!

Happy Birthday Tres!

Tres just celebrated her.........birthday! Just thought she might like me to post her YOUNG age! Hee hee....here are some pictures from her birthday!

Catch up on pictures.......

It's been awhile since I have put pictures on my computer from my camera, so I thought I would blog about some things that have happened the last few weeks.

My nephew Seth had a baseball game which Andy and Brooklyn went to. I didn't go, but it looks like he did a great job! I love the ones with his tongue sticking out. Oh, it was funny too, that same day Brooklyn and Andy matched....it was cute!

The last two weekends we have laid more sod in the backyard. Nothing too big, but enough for Brookie to play until we do it next year. While we were laying the sod, Brookie had the SMARTEST idea and got into her pool with her clothes on. It was a hot day! The next day she wanted to go and step on the grass with her feeties. She said to us....."I sure do like this grass"! That makes the hard work worth it!

Addison is starting to smile. It is so adorable. Of course we don't have the camera when she is doing the big grins, but we will be sure to post some when we get them. Here is what we have so far! There is also a picture of her in a hat that Grandma Becky made for her.

One more thing....we are trying to potty train Brooklyn. This is what I have been able to do so far. As long as she has a movie, snack, drink, and books she will sit on the potty. She actually has gone a few times, but still not quite there. Any suggestions?!? She seems to be ready, but still needs a little help.
